Our Story
On July 1st 1980, Guayabera Day, Miami-Dade Mayor Stephen Clark, issued a proclamation pronouncing the guayabera the official dress code for city employees. The heritage of Cubavera™ is rooted in the guayabera, the elegantly casual shirt that is the staple garment in Latin culture and the official garment of Cuba.
Inspired by this iconic symbol, Cubavera was launched in 2000 as a pioneering collection of men’s apparel and accessories with authentic Latin roots, resort-wear fashion and multicultural appeal.
Today, we continue to be celebrated for our guayaberas, panels, prints, linens, embroideries, comfortable fabrics, resort attire and for sharing Latin culture with the world.
In 1967, George and his brother, Isaac, create Supreme International, which sells school uniforms and guayaberas.
